An accusation that the president's opponents used to make is that he lies. When they realized that nobody cares they gave up.
But lying — constructing a false narrative — requires a greater cognitive complexity and load. It's harder to recall a lie than simply reach for the truth.
But many of the president's pronouncements seem so unvarnished that you doubt he is lying.
Regarding leadership uncertainty in Tehran, Trump said:
This is conversational street talk or boardroom roughhousing.
Trump was about to board a plane and too tired to take on that greater cognitive load.
"Nobody wants to be president," he said of the Iranians. This is a job opening that no one wants to take on. Because, by implication, they have to deal with President Trump.
"Nobody wants to be president" 이란인들에 대해 이렇게 말했다.
