Before X there was Twitter. And the president tweeted all day and night. The social media output of this old man was greater than a cell phone addict high schooler.
Trump loves short form social media. He can speak over the heads of the fake news gatekeepers directly to Americans. In 100 characters. Tweeting is faster, realer. Even his handle was @realDonaldTrump.
Then, in 2019, the coronavirus convulsed the world. It felt like an assassination attempt by the Chinese. The president defended himself with exclamation marks!
"Feeling really good! I feel better than I did 20 years ago!"
He removed his mask on the White House balcony like it was curtain draping over a new royal portrait. The whole maneuver was an exclamation mark.
"Now the vaccines are coming, and fast!"
Speed is a recurring motif in the language of the president. Even in his late seventies. Hence he loves short form media.
