Televised presidential debates get heated. Candidates talk over each other. They fight for their say. Candidate Trump saw them as an opportunity to threaten his opponent with jail. Or imply they had dementia.
Donald Trump's use of English is crude. But Donald Trump doesn't just use crude language. He inspires its use in others.
In the presidential debate of 2016, a debate moderator reported that crude language. Mexico's president Vicente Fox said that Mexico would not "pay for that fucking wall."
The wall was a central part of Trump's election pledge: To Make America Great Again.
Trump took the moral high ground.
"This guy used a filthy, disgusting word on television and he should be ashamed of himself and he should apologize, okay?"
Trump went further. The businessman candidate raised both the size and the cost of the wall during the debate. For Trump, debate and language are like a live action sports match. Debaters score points. The outcome changes according to the dynamics of the joust.
He demanded an apology.

2016년 대선 토론에서 사회자는 그 거친 표현을 언급했다. 멕시코 대통령 비센테 폭스는 멕시코는 "그 빌어먹을 장벽(fucking wall)" 비용을 내지 않을 것이라고 말했다.
그 장벽은 '미국을 다시 위대하게(Make America Great Again)'라는 트럼프의 핵심 공약이었다.
트럼프는 도덕적 우위를 점했다.
