Donald Trump has history working in WWE. Wrestling promoters call out their opponents in the language of the personal insult. The president imported the genre into global politics.
He knows that his opponents will avoid stooping to his level.
And if they do? They will lose.
This leaves the space for personal insult wide open, one that he can dominate.
And he dominates with the English language.
Implying cognitive decline in his aging opponent, Joe Biden, Trump refers to him as "Sleepy Joe."
Another opponent is simply labeled "crazy". The epithet alone is sufficient to dismiss his policies.
Meanwhile, Trump pretends not even able to pronounce the name of another opponent.
This guy, he's implying, is some kind of non-American.
Is there no greater insult?
