The president gave a speech at a "midterm" convention. That in itself is 'unconventional'.
"A cloud over…" means something bad or troubling hanging over a place or situation.
He doubled down by preceding it with a trio of pejorative adjectives.
crazy. little. sick.
Three short words piled onto one noun.
"little" doesn't mean physically small here. It acts dismissively to ridicule the cloud.
Then Trump says:
"Defeat" is a strong, formal verb.
You don't just beat something.
You defeat it.
"Defeat" means he will vanquish a crazy, sick, little enemy of America.
대통령이 '중간선거' 전당대회에서 연설했다. 그런데 이것 자체가 좀 'unconventional', 이례적이다.
"A cloud over…" 어떤 장소나 상황에 나쁜 일이나 문제가 드리워져 있다는 뜻이다.
그런데 여기에 비하하는 형용사 세 개를 연달아 붙였다.
crazy. little. sick.
짧은 단어 세 개를 하나의 명사에 줄줄이 붙인 것이다.
"little"은 여기서 실제로 작다는 뜻이 아니다. 그 구름을 깎아내리고 조롱하는 느낌을 준다.
그리고 트럼프는 이렇게 말한다.
"Defeat"는 강하고 격식 있는 동사다.
그냥 beat한다고 하지 않는다. defeat한다고 한다.
즉, 미국의 미친 듯하고 병든 작은 적을 완전히 물리치겠다는 뜻이다.
